PRP for Aesthetics
Platelet rich plasma is used to restore scar tissue to normal, healthy skin. When we age, the scars on our faces are like the pages of our history. Our hair thins due to depleted blood flow to the hair follicle. Age spots appear, making us look older than we feel. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can be used both internally (for joint pain) as well as externally for aesthetic repairs. Call to schedule an appointment with our clinic to learn how you can turn back the pages, and look as youthful as you feel.
Our rejuvenative medical cosmetic services include:
- PRP for Hair Loss
- Dermal Fillers
- B12 injections
- Vampire Facial
Micro-needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. A tiny needles cause microscopic wounds in the skin. The skin’s response to trauma is to produce collagen and elastin – two of the key building blocks of skin.
As there has been no tissue removal or “real” damage to existing collagen, the new formations of it simply add to existing levels. Over time this will act to increase the thickness, suppleness and general condition of the skin in these areas. Microneedling also creates channels through which any topical application applied to the skins surface can be absorbed far more easily and deeper. Often times your own plasma is used to increase the effectiveness of the procedure. Because it is your own cells and fluid, the procedure is suitable for all skin types.
Why do this procedure? Simply, to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body.
Botox® (botulinum toxin) is a non-invasive injectable treatment used to rejuvenate the skin.
Why use Botox®? To reduce the movement-associated lines and wrinkles, particularly in the upper part of the face, such as around the eyes (crow’s feet), on the forehead and between the eyebrows.
What happens during the appointment? First the provider will assess the areas to be treated. The skin will then be cleaned with an antiseptic wipe. Then, using micro needles and disposable syringes, tiny amounts of botulinum toxin will be injected into the treatment area. The whole treatment should usually take no longer than 10-15 minutes.
The Vampire Facelift is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure involving the reinjection of a person’s own blood. A small sample of blood is drawn from the and spun in a special centrifuge to separate its components (red blood cells, platelet rich plasma, and platelet poor plasma). The platelet rich plasma (PRP) is first separated and then activated with a small amount of calcium chloride which acts as an activation agent and scaffold to keep the PRP where the injector intends to treat. (Platelets are very small cells in your blood that are involved in the clotting and healing process.) When PRP is injected into the face it causes a mild inflammation that triggers the healing cascade. As the platelets organize in the treatment area, they release a number of enzymes to promote healing by attracting stem cells and growth factors to repair the damaged area. As a result new collagen begins to develop. As the collagen matures it begins to shrink causing the tightening and strengthening of the damaged area. In short, this treatment adds volume to your skin and stimulates the cells to reproduce new tissue. The entire procedure takes about 1 hour.
