How to Decide when it’s Time to go to the ER

June 6, 2016/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Matthew Thorson

Making the decision to visit the ER is a tough choice, especially when you’re in extreme pain. You don’t want to make the trip if it’s unnecessary. On the other hand, if you’re in serious danger, a trip to the ER can save your life. So how do you make a decision? In this article, we are going to offer some tips and tricks for determining when it’s time to take a trip to the Emergency Room.

Are your Injuries Life-Threatening?

The first question to ask yourself is “are you injuries or your condition life threatening?” If the answer is yes, call an ambulance immediately. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if your injuries are life threatening or not. Here are a few signs that you should visit the ER immediately:

  • Heart Attack Symptoms – pain in your chest, arm, and shortness of breath.
  • Stroke Symptoms – sudden numbness or loss of feeling on one side of your face or body, and difficulty speaking.
  • A Head Injury – even the most minor head injuries can result in concussions or internal bleeding.

All of these items need to be addresses as soon as possible to ensure patient safety and health. So visit the ER right away if you recognize these signs or symptoms in yourself or a loved one.

If you have been seriously injured or are experiencing severe pain, go to the ER immediately for treatment. If you are suffering from chronic pain, make an appointment with a seasoned pain management specialist. At Advanced Spine & Pain Clinics of MN, our pain doctors have been treating patients in the Twin Cities Metro area for the past twenty years. We offer all types of pain management treatments, from injections, to medications, to surgical intervention. Groin Pain – Causes & Treatment Methods

March 30, 2016/0 Comments/in Pain, Uncategorized /by Matthew Thorson

groin pain treaments

Groin pain can affect men and women alike, and can be severely debilitating – interfering with a person’s everyday routine. This article is focused on the topic of groin pain. We’ll walk through the various potential causes of pain in the groin area, and also offer some methods for treating groin pain.

Potential Causes of Groin Pain

There are many factors that may contribute to the development of groin pain – from injuries, to pre-existing conditions and diseases. Here are some of the common and not so common causes of groin pain:

  • Hernia
  • Kidney Stones
  • Testicular Cancer
  • Inflammation of the testicles or epididymis
  • Prostate infections and inflammation
  • Strains and sprains in the groin region

The severity of these conditions and injuries varies widely – as do the appropriate treatment methods. For certain types of groin pain, surgery is required to ensure long-term pain relief. In other cases, a patient can benefit from non-surgical options.

Treating Groin Pain

A successful treatment strategy must be built on an accurate diagnosis. If you don’t know the root cause of the pain, you can waste time and make errors in the course of treatment. For example, groin hernias and kidney stones nearly always require surgical treatment or removal, while strains, sprains, or inflammation in the region can generally be treated with conservative methods like pain medications, physical therapy, and simple rest.

Schedule an appointment today if you are experiencing pain in your groin. A skilled pain management doctor can help you determine the root cause of your pain and walk you through your options for treatment. At Advanced Spine & Pain Clinics of MN, our doctors have over twenty years experience treating Minnesota patients for all sorts of groin-related pain. We’ve got the experience and knowledge to get you back to a pain-free life. Call our office today to set up your appointment.
